African pension fund leaders to meet at Africa investor Summit at New York Stock Exchange

Friday, 25 May 2012

Johannesburg, South Africa; 25 May 2012: Africa investor (Ai), a leading international investment and communications group, has announced that it will host CEOs from Africa’s leading pension funds at the New York Stock Exchange on the 21st of September 2012, during the UN General Assembly in New York.

This invitation-only, CEO level, Africa-focused institutional investment summit is a unique, high-level engagement platform designed to bring African pension fund leaders together to discuss emerging issues and trends and compare strategies with global pension and sovereign wealth funds investing in Africa. The day’s programme has been carefully designed to provide the African and international pension fund community with a convenient means to engage CEOs and the management of leading African-listed companies and funds in a lasting and meaningful manner.

Commenting on the Summit, Hubert Danso, Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of Africa investor, said; "African pension funds command over US $350 billion of Assets Under Management and have a critical role to play in making the Africa investment case to international pension and sovereign wealth funds, as well as pioneering long-term investments across the continent. We are therefore delighted to bring these important constituencies and our pension fund clients together to build lasting investment partnerships."

Ai and the NYSE Euronext have consistently, over the last seven years of the partnership, generated and nurtured significant interest from the pension fund community on investment opportunities in Africa. Through open networking sessions, dynamic panel discussions and facilitated one-on-one meetings, Ai provides critical investor and issuer insights, as well as a venue for these pension funds and African capital market leaders to form and advance investment partnerships and share Africa investment strategies.

On the same day, Ai will host the prestigious 2012 Africa investor Index Series Awards, which profile African capital market success stories to the international investment community. The Awards are based around the Africa investor Index Series (Africa’s Dow Jones) and are designed to recognise Africa's best performing investment funds, stock exchanges, listed companies, investment banks, research teams, regulators, socially responsible companies and business leaders. It is a unique African capital markets event.

The winners of the 2012 Africa investor Index Series Awards will be announced at a gala reception after the 2012 Africa investor Institutional Investment Summit, on 21 September 2012, at the New York Stock Exchange in New York.
